Mental Status Assessment

This course is designed to strengthen the cognitive and thinking skills behind conducting a mental status assessment so that you can provide your patient/client with effective clinical interventions and avoid adverse events.

By the end of this course, you will be able to identify key cognitive, emotional, and behavioural presentations with a patient/client and be better prepared to identify challenges and recommendations for patients.

  • Apply observation skills with the intent to understand the patient/client’s thoughts and feelings
  • Recognize cultural challenges to observations of clients/patients
  • Identify values and biases that may underscore your approach and interventions, and possible impact on clients
