Crisis Prevention, De-escalation, and Debriefing in Mental Health

This course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge to integrate crisis management techniques in a variety of scenarios when interacting with mental health patients/clients.

By the end of this course, you will be well-equipped to respond using techniques such as crisis prevention and intervention, develop crisis prevention plans and be able to recommend de-escalation strategies.

  • Identify and recognize triggers, Create a Crisis Prevention Plan (CPP) for a mental health patient
  • Conduct a risk assessment of a patient in a crisis scenario and articulate a detailed, written response of strategies used to intervene according to the context
  • Elucidate an approach to debriefing staff based on a scenario of a crisis event
