Crisis Prevention and De-escalation in Developmental Services
This course will enhance the skills of professionals in developmental services by focusing on workplace safety and effective crisis management for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
By the end of this course, you will be able to reference a person’s care plan, including their preferences, triggers, and previous techniques used to respond appropriately in a crisis. You will learn how to use this information to identify changes in emotion and body language to apply suitable interventions during de-escalation.
Recommended for healthcare professionals working with people who have developmental service needs. Includes but is not limited to: Registered nurses, allied health workers, behavioural and recreational therapists, and occupational therapists.
